Artist statement

My current practice focuses on my identity and experiences in the world as a young female artist. I am currently focused on connecting back to my cultural identity as someone affected by cultural displacement. I am using my work as a way to return back and learn my heritage and traditions, finding what I can bring forward into my future.

My current practice takes form in sculpture, video and installation. My influences for my work mainly come from my family and my own histories and personal identity. I root my work in storytelling and lessons that I have learned from my family. I also relate my work to my experiences growing up in this modern age of technology and connectivity. I work in various mediums, favouring sculpture and intermedia. I am currently working towards my BFA at MacEwan University and hope to move on to an MFA in the future.
