Mark Perez is an Edmonton based artist whose work deals with childhood nostalgia and popular media in his life. Incorporating many forms of media such as painting, ink work, and drawing illustrate the powerful memories and experiences that our childhood media and popular media have instilled into us. The bright colours and hard edges he uses tend to speak to the media that continues to have a hold on him, often emulating this media's use of primary colours, hard lines, and exaggerated stylings.

He is unabashedly a nerd at heart, with his work being inspired by nostalgic moments such as hearing the adventures of the Power Rangers or Spiderman as he played video games into the night as a child (and maybe he still does). This love persisted throughout elementary and high school, and continues on as he attends MacEwan University.

Mark Perez is a developing artist that works in mediums such as drawing, painting, and video, among others. His work often centers around popular culture, nostalgia, childhood, and personal experience. He looks to explore the numerous and interesting ways they can be depicted and looked at in a different light. Mark is currently a registered student at the MacEwan University in Fine Arts, and has plans to further expand his education in other institutions in the near future.
