Taylor McConaghy is an Edmonton born and based artist, and the eldest daughter of four siblings. She has self-published two novels, is graduating from MacEwan University’s Fine Art program in Spring 2021, and practices as a 2-D artist. Her inspirations are drawn from her family, books, movies, and other young artists from around the world using social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram. Some of the themes she portrays in her work include family connection, the self, and mental health awareness with her personal struggles with mental illnesses. These themes are most often explored in her acrylic or watercolour painting, and ink work.

I am an exploring artist experimenting with many different mediums, however my personal practice consists primarily within the 2-D realm. Through the use of inks, watercolours, and acrylic paints, I explore themes of the self, mental health, and family. My interest in character creation and design help in my pursuit to portray personal experiences and emotions that aim to connect with others and create an understanding through visual art.
