Welcome to the ArtVenturous Travel Conference – Community Installment

The ArtVenturous Travel Conference is where township creativity, cultural leadership, and community hospitality shape the future of travel. Born from the bold vision of the Maboneng Township Arts Experience (MTAE), this conference doesn’t just talk about transformation — it lives it, paints it, performs it, and builds it street by street.

After a groundbreaking first edition hosted across WITS University, Alexandra, and Soweto, the journey continues with the Community Installment — a two-day experience in Soweto, October 20–21, 2025. This edition dives even deeper into the heart of local economies, artistic expression, youth innovation, and cultural tourism.

Here, homes become galleries, fields become forums, and local legends take centre stage. Expect powerful panels, mural tours, township markets, sister community agreements, and the kind of cross-cultural connection that moves more than minds — it moves economies.

This isn’t just a conference.
It’s a community-powered movement led by artists, athletes, educators, elders, youth, and innovators who believe the future of African tourism lives right here — in the townships and rural homes that have always welcomed the world.

WHY WE EXIST

The ArtVenturous Travel Conference was born from the success of the Maboneng Township Arts Experience, an award-winning movement transforming township homes into creative destinations. The conference builds on this by creating a national (and international) space where policy meets play, dialogue meets design, and the township economy meets global opportunity.

We’re not just imagining a future where art, sport, and tourism create jobs and pride — we’re building it, together.
