At Mabank ISD, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality instruction that meets the needs of every student. Our educators consistently apply eight research-based strategies that are proven to make a significant impact on student learning. These include setting clear learning goals, providing immediate and actionable feedback, reinforcing effort and providing recognition, using nonlinguistic representations like visuals and models, encouraging cooperative learning, helping students identify similarities and differences, asking deep, higher-order questions, and helping students summarize their learning. These best practices—endorsed by both Dr. Robert Marzano and Dr. John Hattie—guide our daily instruction and reflect our ongoing commitment to academic excellence for every heart, every mind, every day.
At Mabank ISD, we believe that every child deserves a strong foundation for success, and that begins with intentional, data-driven instruction. Our approach centers around high expectations, rigorous standards, and student-centered learning environments where every student is challenged, supported, and known. Teachers regularly analyze student performance using formative and summative assessments, ensuring instruction is responsive and focused on growth. Professional development is ongoing, equipping educators with tools to deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction aligned to state standards and designed to build critical thinking and independence. Through strategies like Capturing Kids’ Hearts and a consistent focus on social-emotional wellness, we’re creating classrooms where students feel safe to take ownership of their learning. With a clear commitment to accountability, mastery, and continuous improvement, we are building a culture of excellence—one student, one classroom, one day at a time.
At Mabank ISD, our grading guidelines are designed to provide clear, consistent, and fair measures of student learning. These guidelines help ensure that grades accurately reflect what students know and are able to do, based on mastery of the curriculum. By using common expectations across all classrooms and grade levels, we support academic accountability while giving parents a clear picture of their child’s progress. Grading is not just about scores—it’s a tool to support growth, identify areas of need, and celebrate achievement.
In the elementary years, children develop the essential building blocks for future learning. At Mabank ISD, our curriculum is designed to foster strong foundations in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies through engaging, age-appropriate instruction. Each subject area is carefully structured to support both academic growth and critical thinking. As you explore the curriculum for your child’s grade level, you’ll see how each unit builds on the last—encouraging curiosity, creativity, and confidence every step of the way.
At Mabank Intermediate School, our 5th and 6th grade curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between elementary and middle school, building both academic skills and independence. Students dive deeper into core subjects like reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, with a greater emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application. Our goal is to challenge students while also supporting their individual growth, helping them develop the confidence and responsibility needed for continued success. As you explore the curriculum, you’ll see how each subject is carefully aligned to state standards and designed to spark curiosity, deepen understanding, and prepare students for the next level.
At Mabank Junior High, our 7th and 8th grade curriculum is focused on preparing students for the academic demands of high school while continuing to support their growth as independent thinkers and learners. Core subjects—English Language Arts, math, science, and social studies—are taught with an emphasis on rigor, relevance, and real-world connections. Students also have opportunities to explore electives and extracurriculars that help them discover their interests and strengths. With a strong focus on critical thinking, collaboration, and personal responsibility, our curriculum is designed to equip students with the skills and confidence they need for future success—in high school and beyond.
