WHAT IS DIPLOMA+?

The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools utilizes a district-wide initiative called Diploma+ to help prepare students for success in our ever-changing global society. Diploma+ works to ensure students exit high school prepared for college and careers and that their performance is on-track and on-time for success. In middle school, we focus on college and career exploration. This is accomplished through conversations with industry professionals, job site and college tours/visits, and Naviance, an online tool where students explore college and career options tied to their interests and strengths, as well as plan for their futures.

As students progress through their middle school career, they will have opportunities to explore a variety of careers and post-secondary educational opportunities. When 8th graders prepare to enroll in high school, they will be able to use their IPS (Individual Plan of Study) to select an academy aligned with their future goals and plans and the Diploma+ endorsement(s) they will work towards during high school.
