Mrs. Crisman

I am Mrs. Catherine Crisman and have been teaching at Sumac L-Stem since 1994. I am a graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor's and a Masters Degree in Education and Reading as a special emphasis. I have taught school in Illinois, New Jersey, Athens, Greece and Geneva, Switzerland. My interests beside working with children, are varied. I adore traveling which I do on every holiday break. I have been to almost 100 countries and hope to continue. Bringing back the stories to share with my students is something the students and I both love. This also comes in handy with teaching Geography. Gardening is another interest. I have been creating the Life Lab garden on Campus for the last 3 years. The students plant, build, grow, measure, write and create. It encompasses all the curriculums and helps them learn about nutrition as well. Lastly, I am an avid reader. I always hope to impart the love of reading to each student and help them become the best they can be by using Reading Strategies. Reading is escaping into another world in my opinion. A world of surprise and wonder. Being a teacher at Sumac L-STEM is a phenomenal experience and I am very lucky to be part of such an amazing program.
