I truly believe that knowledge is nothing with the absence of creativity. You can pack numerous facts and theories into your head but if you cannot articulately express it, that information is pointless, forever stuck in your head. That is why I wanted to be a teacher. I want to be the somebody that sparks creativity and a lifelong love of learning.
For me, that was through the arts. Having a well-rounded education not only aids in self- expression but also improves communication and teamwork skills.
I wish to create an educational environment in which students learn the importance of knowledge and history of the subject matter while honing their creativity, self expression, problem solving, and collaborative mind.
Through English, Film, and Theatre I hope students will connect to a broader human perspective in all other subjects learned. These subjects help develop confidence, which is essential to speaking clearly, articulately and thoughtfully. It also creates an outlet for a student’s emotions, hopes, and dreams that they might not otherwise have the means to express.
The Arts are a reflection of society. It helps us see our problems and helps us fix them. They not only tell us stories of our past, but also show us a way to shape our future.
