In my classroom, homework Is meant to be meaningful. Subject matter that requires repetition, or regular reinforcement, to gain mastery will be the majority of what Is sent home (such as math and spelling). Students will not have homework assigned every night, aside from spending time reading each evening. Your child works hard during the day and needs time to decompress after school and be present with family, which I feel Is just as Important as learning academic subject-matter.
Your child will come home with an agenda each week. Homework will be assigned on Mondays and due that Friday, unless noted otherwise. Please check the agenda and discuss it with your child at the beginning of each week. Included are important upcoming dates and current skills we're working on for each content area. An example is provided for your reference.
