6th Grade-
Welcome to an exciting year of discovery! In the sixth grade we begin our journey into the past with the beginning of human development. We will continue into the earliest civilizations of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Israel, India, China, Greece and end our year with Rome. We will look at how each civilization developed its own unique culture and how these ancient civilizations helped the modern world evolve into the amazing place we call home today.
7th Grade-
Welcome to an exciting year of exploration! In the 7th grade we will begin our journey into the past by reexamining the reasons for the fall of Ancient Rome. Our journey will take us to the continents of Europe, Africa, South America, North America, and Asia. During the year we will encounter the eastern cultures of medieval Japan and China, and the birth of Islam and its spread into Africa. We will visit the earliest empires that developed in the Americas, and finally end our year with Europe's development from feudalistic society to enlightened thinkers.
Grades:
A= Advanced (90%-100%)
B= Proficient (80%-89%)
C= Basic (70%-79%)
D= Below Basic (60%-69%)
F= Far Below Basic (0%-59%)
Students grades will be standards based and comprised of the following: classwork, homework, tests, quizzes, projects and essays.
Homework:
Students are expected to copy down assignments in their Eagle Organizer each day. Students are expected to complete and turn in assignments on time. Late assignments will result in a lower grade. Late work will only be accepted for credit during the week it was assigned.
Classroom Rules: (For when we return to school)
1. Students are to be in their assigned seats ready to work when the bell rings.
2. Electrical equipment, food, drink (bottled water ok) and gum are never allowed in the classroom.
3. Respect for the teacher and fellow students is the only acceptable practice in this classroom. I will never tolerate any kind of personal attacks regardless of the intent.
4. Cheating or copying from another student will result in a failing grade on the assignment.
5. Plagiarism will result in a failing grade on the assignment.
6. I want each and everyone of my students to succeed, I will always come to class prepared and ready to teach, I ask that each student come to class prepared to learn.
