- Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing
- Island of the Blue Dolphins
- Mr. Blue Jeans
- By the Great Horn Spoon
- Storyworks will be used regularly for both guided and independent practice.
- Big themes in 4th grade reading:
- Making inferences with supporting text evidence
- Main idea with supporting text evidence
- Identifying and understanding nonfiction text features
- Theme
- We'll be using the CCC Being a Writer curriculum to guide instruction
- A writer's notebook will be used regularly for independent practice and during instruction
- Big themes in 4th grade writing:
- Narratives - writing with a hook, parts of a story, conclusion
- Informational - researching and writing content in own words
- Opinion - including multiple reasons with supporting details
- We'll be using the Go Math booklets and curriculum for instruction.
- Khan Academy and IXL will be used regularly for independent practice and during Target Time.
- Big themes in 4th grade math:
- Multi-step problem solving (including word problems)
- Multi-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Fractions - add/subtract, simplifying
- Area and perimeter of quadrilaterals
- We'll be using Studies Weekly and curriculum for both guided and independent practice.
- Big themes in 4th grade social studies:
- All things California!
- Early history, missions, ranchos, Gold Rush, transcontinental railroad and so much more!
