D1 Section Championships

Congratulations to our distance runners for their amazing efforts at the Section Championship Race! Beginning with two very talented freshman, Skyler Tatum moved into the 2nd place position on Lincoln’s All-Time JV Leaderboard with a outstanding time of 5:31. Following that up in the Varsity Boys 1600 was Noah Pagaran, who hit a PR of 4:39. That time solidifies him as the fastest freshmen ever at Lincoln! Matthew Tolentino, 12th grade, finished his running career at Lincoln with a huge PR of 4:37. Finally, a special congratulations goes out to Calvin Abbott for producing an impressive 4:22.77, which qualified him to the Masters Meet next Saturday at Davis High School. Come support him as he gives one final attempt at breaking the school record!

Calvin Abbott recieves The PTsA - Tod Anton scholarship!

Tod Anton (pictured right) was truly the father of distance running/coaching at Lincoln HS. He has left an impressive legacy and now at 90 years old, he continues to make a positive impact on the lives of our students. Tod was very impressed with Calvin's character and commitment and was delighted to present him with the scholarship.

Lincoln VS St. Mary's

Lincoln defeated St. Mary's in FS Boys, FS Girls, and Varsity Girls, but narrowly lost in the Varsity Boys. Great job to Earl Henderson for taking 1st place in the 800, 1600, and 3200 for the FS boys! Congratulation to Jill Setness and Taylor Lewis for breaking the 6:00 mile as well. Skyler Tatum went out hard in the 1600, successfully breaking the spirit of St. Mary’s best distance runner and securing 1st place in both the 1600 and 3200. Meanwhile, St. Mary's VB team has dominate TCAL, although Lincoln gave them the biggest fight of the season. Calvin Abbott ran a PR of 4:29 in the 1600 as we swept the event, but it wasn’t enough to secure an overall victory. The good news is that TCAL Championships scores the top 6 finishers instead of just the top 3, which will allow Lincoln’s much larger team to score additional points that smaller teams can’t. We’re looking forward to some epic races at TCAL Championships!

Sheldon Distance Carnival

This is certainly one of the best events of the season for the Distance Team. It’s an easy going atmosphere with good competition and the opportunity to take home a medal for those who are not normally one of the top runners. Dane Koesterer got 1st in the 800, while Calvin Abbott secured 1st in the 3200. Noah Pagaran also got 1st overall in the JV boys 1600. The boys relay team consisting of Josh, Noah, Dane, and Calvin took 1st in the DMR and 4x800 as well. While many of our athletes finished at the top of their heat, both Calvin and Earl Henderson were the only 2 athletes to bring home medals in all 5 races!

Lincoln VS Tokay

Lincoln defeated Tokay in all 4 divisions! Tokay had been a powerhouse to contend with in Cross Country season as they dominated TCAL with their varsity boys team. This meet would be different. The distance events were exciting to watch as our varsity boys went 1, 2 in the 800 and 1, 2, 3 in the 1600. Tokay did not field a varsity boys team in the 3200, so we used it to our advantage and devised a plan to help Skyler break 12:00 during the combined race. A pack of our boys formed a wall in front of her to help with pacing and to block the wind. When they came through the first mile at 5:40 (Skyer's PR from the previous week), I expected it to be over. With the encouragement of the boys, she fought through and demolished the 12:00 barrier with a time of 11:40!!! That places her in 1st for the ALL-Time Distance Records in the F/S 3200. In the same event, Josh Quinzon helped pace Dante Winn to a 1st place victory for the JV boys. Great team work all around! Meanwhile, the most impressive performances went to the girls. Skyler, Jill, Hannah, and Taylor all produced huge PRs in the 1600. Then, Hannah and Taylor followed it up with PRs in the 3200 as well. Ansley also had a huge breakthrough in the 800 with a time of 2:38. Keep up the great work!

Lincoln Varsity Girls Win 2019 Delta Invite!

It was a LOOOONG day at Stagg High School again this year, but well worth it. While the Varsity Girls took 1st overall, the Varsity Boys finished in 2nd out of 27 schools. Lincoln also brought home the trophy for the "Most Spirited" award! Notable achievements include Calvin and Josh battling it out in the 3200 to produce times under 10:00. Hopefully this will qualify them for the Sacramento Meet of Champions. Dane helped the men's relay team secure a 1st place finish in the 4x400. Skyler won the Varsity Girls 3200 and smashes her PR by over 20 seconds! Otherwise, the Distance Team continued to improve overall with 28 more personal records!!!

Lincoln wins both JV divisions, but could not secure a varsity win against lodi...

Despite the upset, the Distance Team ran phenomenaly well. They posted 37 PR's (Personal Records) and 9 SR's (Season Records) in the 1600, 800, and 3200 events!!! With a huge number of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes, the distance crew brought home the majority of the points for the team. 1st place finshers include:

VB 800 1st Dane Koesterer, VB 1600 1st Josh Quinzon, VB 3200 1st Calvin Abbott

JVB 800 1st Earl Henderson, JVB 1600 1st Earl Henderson, JVB 3200 1st Dante Wynn

JVG 3200 1st Jill Setness

2019 County Clash Title goes to Lincoln!

The distance team highlights include Josh Quinzon breaking 10:00 for the 3200, which hasn't been done at Lincoln since 2012. He ran a 9:58 after hitting another PR in the 1600 earlier that evening. Noah Pagaran established himself as the fastest freshman ever at Lincoln in the 1600 with a time of 4:41. He now sits in 2nd in the 800 as well. Skyler Tatum added herself to the All Time Leaderboard for the 2nd time this season, now running a 5:48 in the 1600. She then topped it off with another PR in the 3200 by shaving off 5 more seconds. Skyler shares a similar title with Noah and is ranked as the fastest freshman ever at Lincoln, but in the 3200. Another impressive day at the track!
