Dear Kindergarten Families,
Welcome to an exciting new school year! My name is Mrs. Maya Hotwanni, and I’m so happy to be your child’s kindergarten teacher. I’m thrilled to be working alongside Ms. Suzanne Marchant, our wonderful classroom assistant. Together, we’re looking forward to a year filled with learning, laughter, and growth—and we’re honored to be part of your child’s journey.
Kindergarten is a time of incredible development—academically, socially, and emotionally. We’ll spend our days exploring letters and numbers, asking questions, sharing stories, solving problems, and learning how to be kind, curious, and confident members of our classroom community.
In our room, your child will be supported, encouraged, and celebrated for who they are and how they learn. We believe in building a classroom culture rooted in respect, routine, creativity, and connection. Most of all, we want your child to feel safe, seen, and excited to come to school every day.
Throughout the year, we’ll stay in close communication with you about your child’s progress, our classroom activities, and upcoming events. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school helps children thrive, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time with questions or insights.

Arrival and Dismissal: To help our Kindergarten students begin their day feeling happy, prepared, and ready to learn, students are expected to arrive in the classroom by 8:00 a.m. The school day ends at 2:50 p.m., and we kindly ask parents and guardians to pick up their children promptly. If a student has not been picked up by 3:05 p.m., they will be safely escorted to the After Care program in the Pre-school classroom.
Homework
In Kindergarten, homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday, beginning Monday, August 24th, to support your child’s growth and learning during this exciting stage of development. While you may occasionally provide gentle guidance when needed, we kindly encourage you to allow your child the opportunity to complete their homework independently. This will help build confidence, responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment as they develop their learning skills.
