2018 Audits using webAIM's WAVE
The original district website was run through the webAIM WAVE.
The program flagged issues such as missing alt text for images and graphics, color contrast issues, and navigation order issues (title, headers and normal text) that would prevent a screen reader from logically following information.

The new district website was also run through the webAIM WAVE program.

But the new district website is not free of errors. The report found the website navigation was disrupted by headers used out of order. The first screenshot shows the headers used out of order (H1 to H3 to H2). The second screenshot shows the header issue resolved. This was addressed by making the mission statement a regular block of text rather than the larger header text originally used. This will need to be addressed on all the websites.
There are still color contrast issues to address with the new websites. These will be addressed in the near future.
The webAIM WAVE program also flagged the links within the top navigation. While this is extremely helpful to navigate among the district and school websites for many users, screen readers have trouble with these links. Translation services also seems to have trouble with these top navigation links. To remedy this but also include the option to use top navigation, another set of district and school links were added beneath the website translation section of each website that should aid in translation and screen reader usage.
The original websites also utilized drop down links from the header. These drop down links were distracting and also difficult for screen readers to follow. The design of the new websites moved most linked content to the main page of the websites. The aimWEB WAVE program reported that this design did not have major errors.
