Honors ELA

Course Description:

Writer’s Workshop offers opportunities for students to explore different writing genres: narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and expository modes of discourse. Students will study different writers and their writing styles. The students will have opportunities to improve writing proficiency through a complete study of the components of solid writing: fluency, style, diction, mechanics, grammar, imaginative expressions, and details. This course allows students to utilize the writing process to compose independently while working toward mastery.

The Georgia Standards of Excellence associated with this course are measured through multiple formal and informal assessments: tests, quizzes, projects, discussions, literature tasks and activities, and writing assignments.

Students will be required to take the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade (EOG) standardized test at the end of the school year. The test involves a high level of competency in the subject and includes written response (short and extended).
