National Honor Society

Vision: The National Honor Society is one of the nation's leading organizations established to identify outstanding high school students.  More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the four NHS pillars of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.  The purpose of NHS is to provide services to the school community and the local community, whether through volunteering at local organizations, tutoring students, mentoring, assisting school faculty, or helping out during major school events.

As a student-run organization (with the leadership and advice of advisors), the National Honor Society aims to reach out to exemplary students at Lufkin High School.  To us, exemplary means those who can maintain their GPA and keep up with their extracurricular activities while performing benevolent services to their peers and the community.

Mission: The objective of NHS is to recognize and foster enthusiasm for scholarship, to promote the development of strong character, to encourage positive leadership, and to cultivate responsible citizenship through service to school and community.  These four principles shape the organization's activities and reflect the member's responsibilities.
