Fully Responsible Organized Growing

Second Graders

Meet Mrs. Delany

My name is Tamara Delany and this is my third year as a Cardinal Staff Member and if I tell you how many other years I have been in the classroom over the years....well....lets just say my heart is forever young!!

I graduated from UW-River Falls with a Broad Area Elementary Education and I have recently attended Hamline University studying content classes in Environmental Education, Reading and Educational Kinesiology or commonly known as “Brain Gym” (the latter inspired by my late husband’s fight with a brain tumor). I am the proud mom of a son who just got married and is at UW-Stout studying electrical engineering and a very talented daughter who is studying communications along with drama as a double major attending UW-River Falls.  Both my children graduated from Luck!

I am currently certified in both Minnesota and Wisconsin and because of my love for learning I see myself being a lifelong student and teacher. My background (married a guy with a career that had him/us moving and traveling) has landed me in all sizes of school districts. The big, like South Washington County School District (out of the cities), to the small (private schools) and the mid-sized: just down the road in Baldwin-Woodville, Barron and Turtle Lake. I am grateful and excited to be at Luck because for me, this is home! And, as we all know, life is fragile. Hard times are inevitable and at one time or another, we will all go through a difficult time, whether we deal with sickness, catastrophe or a personal crisis.  In those times, we need each other more than ever. Luck School District supported my family through one of those "times" when we lost a very dear family member. My heart has been forever grateful and I am proud to give back into the community and family that gave so much to me and mine.

All in all, one of the greater opportunities in any school is for students to learn that everyone does not think and feel the same way they do. Students also learn that it is most unlikely to have everyone agree, yet we can still cooperate and create a mutual space where we all have a value (unique to us) that can shine. Providing opportunities for students to feel valued often allows them to see themselves as a contributor and important: a learner with something to give to others. I make it a goal to create an atmosphere that provides these outlets to share their emerging abilities in daily interactions. A place to exchange with one another, learn and grow.

Here is to a great Cardinal year!! I am excited to be in partnership with you to make second grade memorable.
