What is Digital Learning?

An opportunity to enhance lessons using technology to engage learners. It provides opportunities for students to create, collaborate, communicate, and use critical thinking skills. Digital learning can provide opportunities for teachers to differentiate and individualize instruction, create a student-centered learning experience in the classroom, increase productivity, and ensure students are college and career ready.

What is Digital Learning Day?

It was started to provide an opportunity for teachers to highlight their great teaching practices with others and showcase innovation. Digital Learning Day is not about technology, it's about learning using technology to meet needs in the classroom. On this day, teachers are provided opportunities to share ways they are implementing technology in the classroom and gather ideas from other teachers.

What is Lubbock ISD doing for Digital Learning Day?

In order to showcase the great things happening in the district our teachers will have opportunities to showcase lessons in the classroom. We are:

1. Providing resources that can be used in the classroom. These are located on the Resource page.

2. Asking that all teachers in the district tweet the digital resources they are using on that day to @Lubbockisd, @lubbockDL

3. In order to look at a variety of ways technology tools can be used in the curriculum, challenges are set up daily. If they are completed, campuses will have an opportunity to earn 2 badges for 1 activity this week. Campuses must complete the daily challenges for the 2 for 1 special. These are located on the 2 for 1 badge challenge page.

Teaching digital citizenship is important to provide a safe and responsible environment for students as they use technology tools. Parents and teachers should become a part of each child's online behavior to teach them how to be smart, responsible, and respectful when online. Resources are available for Parents, Teachers, and Students on Internet Safety/Digital Citizenship.
