What is WASC?
WASC stands for Western Association of Schools and Colleges. “WASC accreditation is a process schools use to monitor student learning and set school improvement goals. Accrediting Commission of Schools (ASC) WASC accreditation is an ongoing cycle of quality.” (www.acswasc.org) In addition to fostering ongoing improvement of the school’s programs and operations to support student learning, accreditation validates the integrity of the school’s program and transcripts which are important for college acceptance.
Is South Tahoe High School accredited?
YES! STHS is accredited through June 2018. The school and staff have made great progress and are optimistic that we will remain accredited. STHS has always been accredited for 6-year cycles and we are working toward this outcome once again.
”Set in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount from Kansas, who comes to New York in search of a new life for herself. The owner of her dingy hotel kidnaps young girls to sell to the Far East, her wealthy boss is slow in proposing marriage and the man she actually falls in love with doesn't have a dime to his name... or so he tells her.” -Music Theater International

LTUSD applauds the Lake Tahoe Educational Foundation (LTEF) for their dedication to education in our community. LTEF issued a generous $69,552.40 in grants to LTUSD and other school-connected organizations. The District is grateful for their tireless work in our community and the funds they have granted to empower our students. Twenty-four programs received funding thanks to LTEF. A sampling of these include STEM and STEAM activities such as underwater Robotics at STHS, engineering kits at STMS, and robotics at Sierra House Elementary School; outdoor activities like a Redwood Outdoor Education trip for Bijou students and Natural Bridge/Yosemite Field Trip for LTESMS Students; and performing arts programs like Music in My Heart choir and instruments for Tahoe Valley and the LTUSD Instrumental Music Program for grades 6th-12th. Please take a moment to thank a LTEF Member when you see them in our community.
