What is Falconbots?
SLMS Falconbots forms 1-3 teams that compete in the FIRST LEGO League Challenge. This organization encourages students to be creative problem-solvers for real-world problems as well as program robots to achieve LEGO simulation tasks. Participants collaboratively research, develop solutions to problems, consult experts, and present ideas. Coaches facilitate team-building, give advice, help students connect with experts, and guide in the core values and fundamentals of robotics programming. The season builds to a competition to be judged in robot design, core values, and innovation. This activity strives to be very inclusive, collaborative, and encourages personal growth!
Falconbots practice twice a week (2:30-4:00) until the qualifier tournament late December. If teams qualify for KC Regional, there will be additional practices until Championship Tournament in January.
What is this year's theme?
Each year, FLL declares a theme, or problem, in society that could use some creative solutions. The research and presentation will be centered around students’ creative solutions to that problem as well as the robotics board tasks.
Transportation drives us forward – impacting economies, bridging cultures, and making us all more globally interconnected. In 2021-2022 FIRST® LEGO® League’s CARGO CONNECTSM, participants will learn how cargo is transported, sorted, and delivered to its destinations.
