Overview:  Students will explore a major contemporary issue that differs from other students in the classroom.

Purpose:  Students will evaluate the impact of the contemporary issue from this time period.

Process Steps:  

1. Create a Google Document in your Contemporary Issues Share Folder titled: "Last Name - Assignment 08"

2. At the top of the Google Document, place the title "Assignment 08 - Contemporary Issue Presentation"

3. Research Project

   • Students will choose a contemporary issue from the last 5-7 years and research it

   • Students will draft a summary of the event (minimum of 400 words) explaining the background, sides of the issue, and relevance to society today.  (DUE NOVEMBER 7)

   • Students will then create a bullet-point summary of their issue and prepare a 5-7 minute presentation to the class about their research. (WILL BE CONDUCTED THE FOLLOWING WEEK)

   • Students must be prepared to take questions
