LSM Student Organizations Denounce Flood Control Corruption, Calls for Vigilance—September 20, 2025
We, the organizations of Lourdes School of Mandaluyong (LSM)—The High School Student Government of Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, Lourdes Loop, and The Link Publication—DENOUNCE corruption and nepotism in all their forms. We unequivocally affirm our moral and civic responsibility to uphold justice, impartiality, and truth. Christian leadership must be enshrined in public service, through transparency and accountability.
We are indignant over the recent anomalies surrounding the flood control projects, deploring all the government branches, departments, agencies, and officials, who have betrayed the public trust. We deplore all the forms of impunity in which corruption festers.
Consequently, the very foundations of our society are imperiled with devastating ramifications on a national scale. Therefore, the perennial issue of corruption must be addressed with urgency and immediate action. The Filipino people must not reap the poisoned harvest sown by those entrusted to serve.
In light of this, we DEMAND accountability from all the branches of the Philippine government and all the other institutions mandated to safeguard the welfare of the Filipino people. Leaders must abide by their sworn oath before God and man. We demand transparent investigations, fair proceedings, and due process for the swift dispensation of justice.
As students, we are directly affected when corruption erodes the systems meant to protect us. Corruption, along with the lack of accountability from public officials, has devastated homes and displaced families. Learning environments have been disrupted with floods, especially in rural areas. In addition, safe transportation for students and teachers alike has been hindered by widespread flooding in several communities. Moreover, corruption has swallowed the funds that could have been properly used for building flood control infrastructures and educational facilities, which would have otherwise benefited the Filipino people.
We therefore call on all students and the entire Lourdesian community to RALLY and MOBILIZE in civic action through a peaceful protest tomorrow Sunday, September 21, 2025, towards the EDSA People Power Monument.
Let us voice our dissent against the rampant corruption and injustice that steals our future. We earnestly implore your solidarity in this hour of great need.
May we live the words of St. Francis of Assisi, “Let us begin again, brothers, for up until now we have done little to nothing at all.” Take a stand for clean governance, transparency, and accountability.
PAX ET BONUM!
