On this Easter Monday April 21, 2025, 7:35 am Vatican time, the Risen Lord welcomed Holy Father Francis into His arms at Casa Santa Marta. The Camerlengo, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, officially announced the death of the Holy Father at 9:45 am Vatican time.
During his pontificate, the Holy Father has championed Church teaching on human dignity and the goodness of creation through his writings such as Laudato Si’ and Fratelli Tutti. He chose his papal name “Francis” in honor of the great Poverello, St. Francis of Assisi.

Known for his tenderness, he has always emphasized mercy and compassion towards the poor and the marginalized. He has mirrored the original mission of St. Peter by being a selfless shepherd to the Church.
Faithful Catholics are called to pray for the soul of the Holy Father and for his eternal repose.
