Lourdes School of Mandaluyong formally opened Academic Year 2026–2027 through its first onsite General Assembly, highlighting the theme "Embracing the Franciscan Spirit through Lourdesian Education and Capuchin Formation" and calling on students to become a kapatid to everyone in the community, on Tuesday, July 7.
The program began with the morning rites led by the High School Faculty Club officers. During the assembly, Mr. Bon Jovy C. Patac emphasized the week's core value, Brotherhood with the Poor and Marginalized, reminding Lourdesians that genuine fraternity begins by recognizing the dignity of every person.
Using the analogy of a non-playable character (NPC) in video games, Mr. Patac said that people often see themselves as the "main character" in their own stories. He challenged students to move beyond self-centeredness, stressing that in the Lourdesian community, "no one is above, no one is below, and no one is alone—everyone is a kapatid."
High School Principal Mr. Peter Patrick R. Garcia introduced the members of the school administration, teaching and non-teaching personnel, maintenance staff, and new members of the Lourdesian community. He also welcomed the Grade 7 students, inviting the student body to give the newest members of the high school community a standing ovation.
The High School Student Government later conducted separate welcoming programs at the Pax et Bonum Gymnasium, with Grades 7 to 9 gathering in the morning and Grades 10 to 12 in the afternoon. The activity formed part of the week's lineup of events marking the opening of the new academic year.
