From November 12 to November 15, the Albacina Hall at Lourdes School of Mandaluyong came alive with excitement as the IMC Book Fair kicked off National Book Week. This year’s theme, “Magbasa, Mangarap, Magdiwang,” was more than just words on a banner—it was a call to dream big, explore new ideas, and rediscover the magic of books. The fair was a reminder that stories have the power to transport us to new worlds, provide comfort on quiet days, and bring joy when life feels overwhelming.
As you walked into the book fair, it felt like stepping into a treasure trove of possibilities. Tables were lined with an array of storybooks, graphic novels, Bible stories, and educational resources—each waiting to be discovered. Students eagerly browsed, finding books that resonated with them. Alcee Saulog shared their thoughts, saying, “I may not be a great reader, but I feel inspired to learn new knowledge and information while reading.” Jaiden Ballesteros added, “It’s an opportunity for people who love to read to explore new genres. Books may look boring at first, but once you read between the lines, you’ll enjoy them and uncover the lessons behind the story.” These reflections captured the essence of the fair: an invitation to explore, to learn, and to grow. For others, the book fair sparked fond memories. Guidance counselor Rojie L. Bagnes shared, “It brought me back to when it was a luxury to slow down and read a book. I hope students don’t rush through life. Enjoy your time here and create memories you can look back on with a smile.” It wasn’t just about finding a good book—it was about taking a pause from the rush of everyday life, creating moments of reflection, joy, and inspiration that would stay with you long after the fair ended.
But more than anything, the book fair was about connection. Students, teachers, and staff roamed the aisles together, exchanging book recommendations and bonding over a shared love of reading. It was a reminder that stories don’t just entertain—they bring people together, bridging gaps between ideas and experiences. As the fair came to an end, it reminded us that even though the event had wrapped up, the spirit of reading didn’t have to fade away with it. Take a moment to pick up a book and let it spark your imagination, teach you something new, or just make you smile. After all, every great adventure begins with turning the first page.
