What is FLY?

Flexible Learning Year for SY 2020-2021 is La Salle College Antipolo’s response to the challenge brought about by the COVID 19 Pandemic in the delivery of academic instruction. Giving priority to teacher and student safety, health and well-being, LSCA will utilize distance learning modalities.

What is Distance Learning?

Distance Learning is a combination of online and offline learning modalities. Instruction will be delivered synchronously and asynchronously. Students work online at home while the teacher assigns work and checks in digitally. Distance learning includes NO physical interaction between teachers and students. Messaging applications (email and messenger), video calls (google meet and zoom), discussion boards, and learning management system (LMS) are some of the platforms which will be utilized. Both digitized and printed materials will be made available for students.

What are Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning Modalities?

Synchronous Online Classes will require students and teachers to be online at the same time. Lectures, discussions, and presentations will be conducted at a specific hour wherein students are expected to participate.

Asynchronous Online Classes will allow students to access instructional materials on their own schedule. Teachers will provide materials, assessments, activities, etc. that can be accessed at any time through the learning management system and messaging applications.

What are the school activities and support services available online?

Online Lasallian Formation activities will be made available for students such as recollections, counseling, class or cluster masses, and fitness training.

How will students access materials and submit their outputs?

Instructional materials and assessment tools will be made available through Google applications and LSCA’s Learning Management System. Printed version of the instructional materials will be made available for students who will not have internet access at home. LSCA will continue to use textbooks for certain year levels and subjects to aid instruction and reduce screen time.

Are students still subject to discipline cases in the FLY Program?

Students’ conduct will still be covered by specific handbook provisions and the Code of Conduct for Distance Learning.

How will academic advising take place in the FLY Program?

Online Academic Advising will be made available for students and regular consultation hours will be scheduled every week.

How will parents schedule a conference with teachers?

For academic or subject-related concerns, parents may schedule a conference with the concerned teacher through the subject-area/strand coordinators. For homeroom and other student-activities concerns, parents may contact the office of the Vice Principal for each cluster (i.e. Pre School ℅ Principal’s Office, Grade School, Junior High School, Senior High School). The contact details of these offices will be posted on the LMS.

How can parents monitor the progress of their children?

In lieu of the physical portfolio, students will have an e-portfolio for each subject that contains the list of activities accomplished and the marks they got. Parents may also access the accounts of their child/children to check the activities, submissions, and marks.

How long will the online classes be?

The class schedule will consist of online classes or synchronous mode for two (2) to three (3) hours a day depending on the subject and on the student’s grade level.
