Hello, my name is Brandie Mellen and this is my third year as the third and fourth grade teacher at LSA! Previously, I taught 4th grade at Morgan County R-1 and grades five through eight here at LSA. This will be my tenth year in education!
In 2013, I graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Education. During my time there, I also pursued a minor in instructional technology, which sparked my passion for integrating technology into the classroom. I believe that utilizing technology effectively can enhance the learning experience and actively involve students in their education.
Continuing my professional growth, I completed the Colloquy program through Concordia University, Nebraska in 2020, earning my Lutheran Teacher Diploma. This program deepened my understanding of faith-based education and equipped me with valuable insights into nurturing the faith of families. Building on this foundation, I also completed the School Leadership Development (SLED) program in 2023, earning the School Leadership Endorsement from the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod and Concordia University. These experiences have enriched my ability to serve my students and contribute to the overall educational community here at LSA..
Aligned with the mission of Lutheran schools, I believe that education grounded in faith is essential for preparing students for lifelong success. As an educator, I prioritize understanding the diverse ways in which students learn and adapting my teaching methods to meet their individual needs. I strongly emphasize the importance of parental involvement in education, as it positively impacts student achievement. By actively involving children and their parents in the learning process, we can achieve higher levels of success together.
Faith integration helps students understand the relevance of what they learn in their lives as creations of God. By applying the concepts of Law and Gospel, students develop a sense of responsibility for their actions and gain a deeper understanding of the work of their savior, Jesus Christ. My ultimate goal is to empower students to become lifelong learners, leaders, and active participants in their communities as exemplary Christian citizens.
Thank you for visiting my page. Together, we will provide an exceptional educational experience that combines faith and academic excellence, empowering our students to thrive in all aspects of life.
