Messages from your teachers:

  • Welcome to 2021! Hope your holiday season went well and everyone in your home is healthy!

  • Families it's time to open the 'at home learning package'. Take a few minutes to look through the materials and paper tasks in your child's envelope.

  • Parents review the 'Grade 1 At Home Learning Schedule' to see the week at a glance.

  • A reminder that your child has his/her log in information at home.

  • Scroll down to see a list of assigned tasks in Literacy, Math & Health.

  • Have fun reviewing your school work and explore the web sites!!




    • Language Arts/Literacy:

    • Students continue to practice their Fry Words list. The next list is included in your child's 'at home' envelope.

    • Practice the alphabet letters and sounds for those students who require the review.

    • Write a daily sentence in your Agenda or Daybook.

    • Teachers plan to listen to each child read from Raz Kids at least one time during the week in a 'google meeting'.

    • Each day read at least 1 book from Raz Kids and click on the Quiz icon to answer the questions. (Your teacher will assign a reading level to you). Log on to Raz Kids, click on 'Level Up'. Your reading level will appear along with a list of books. Click on the book that interests you and click on the 'book' icon so you can read the book. If you want to listen to the story you click on the 'headphones' icon and the book will be read to you. Don't forget to click on 'quiz' icon to answer some comprehension questions. **Try to read the book first before listening to it!**

    • Optional: Students can make a book at home and share it with family and/or his/her teacher.

    • Math:

    • Take a look at the paper tasks in the envelope. Students will be practicing these math skills:

  1. Counting by 1s to 5o (or 100 for a challenge!)

  2. Skip counting by twos to 20

  3. Skip counting by fives and tens to 50

  4. Addion to 10

  5. Subtraction from 10

    • Students can practice these 'Number Strand' skills in the MathSeeds and IXL web sites. The following lessons have been assigned:

    • MathSeeds:

  1. Lesson 77: Skip counting by 2s and 5s

  2. Lesson 79: Counting by 10s

  3. Lesson 90: Skip counting (more challenging as numbers go to 100)

  4. Lesson 34: Addition to 10

  5. Lesson 36: Addition to 10

  6. Lesson 47: Subtraction

  7. Lesson 58: Subtraction using a numberline

    • IXL:

  1. A.11 - Counting up to 100

  2. A.14 - Counting forward up to 100

  3. B.1 - Add with cubes sums to 10

  4. B.3 - Addition sentences up to 10 (Which model matches?)

  5. F.1 - Subtract with cubes up to 10

  6. F.3 - Subtraction sentence up to 10

    • Plan to go outside and get fresh air and exercise daily.
