FUTURE QUEST
FUTURE QUEST
How can we achieve a low carbon future, along with economic growth, equity, and quality of life? What are the qualities needed to lead new companies, or reinvent existing ones? The green transition poses difficult dilemmas as well as unprecedented opportunities. At the Future Quest, we will dive deep into the these questions– and consider the commitment, vision and action required from leaders to shape a resilient, thriving future.

Group 1 - Copenhagen Atomics: Engineering a future without fossil fuels.
Copenhagen Atomics harnesses the power of thorium to generate cleaner, safer, and cheaper nuclear energy - all within the footprint of a shipping container. With modular reactors that can be operational 1000x faster than classic nuclear installations, the founders envisage a world where nuclear energy makes up 20% of global energy mix — the same amount currently generated by gas. We’ll view the prototypes at their factory and meet CEO Mads Steenberg and CFO Jesper Glahn to explore what it takes to pursue a vision of abundant energy for all. (Website)
Group 2 - Ørsted: Radical business transformation
Ørsted shifted from a fossil fuel-based company to a renewable energy leader in a decade. By investing in offshore wind farms and converting coal and gas power stations to biomass, Ørsted became one of the world’s most sustainable energy companies. We’ll visit the Avedøre Holme near-shore wind farm and meet Ulrik Stridbæk, Vice President, Head of Regulatory and Public Affairs, who will share key learnings on the leadership required for an accelerated business transformation. We'll meet Lene Serpa, Director, Head of Corporate Sustainability & ESG at Maersk, Bjarne Foldager, Head of Sales & Promotion MAN Energy Solutions, and Bo Cerup-Simonsen, CEO of Zero-Carbon Shipping, and learn how cross-industry partners are learning into collaboration and accelerating solutions across suppliers. Just as ships went from sails to steam, this group is making the shift from combustion to electric and green ammonia-powered engines.
