This past Tuesday morning, before the sun was even up, the high school and middle school cross country teams were out. Why so early? It was Run-A-Thon morning. With parents rooting for the runners and music blasting, the runners ran for a combined 840 laps. Eight hundred forty laps!!!! Yes, you read that right. They ran a total or 210 miles in one hour! 210 miles is further than Biloxi, MS is from school. Let that sink in. Impressive? Uh, absolutely! I can barely get out of bed in the morning much less get to school before 6am to run.

Here are some stats for all of you new cross country fans - Atticus Solis and Jackson Jarret each ran 34 laps. 34 laps is a whopping 8.5 miles... in ONE HOUR! Middle schooler, Braxton Tassin, added 28 laps for a total of 7 miles. Go, Braxton!! Not to be outdone, Grace French turned in 32 laps for 7.5 miles (I saw her - she was covered in mud!) and Kenya Cummings topped the middle school girls with 27 laps (6 3/4 miles!).

We've haven't yet heard how much money they raised, but I bet it was a good little chunk.

DTSMA is proud of you, Cross Country! Keep running!
