Example 1:

I've been reading The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. I've been surprised about how much I can relate to it, even though I don't live in a city or neighborhood like Starr's. I think that's because the major problem in this story starts with something as simple as being pulled over by a police officer while driving around with a friend on a summer night. This novel shows a very personal side of the Black Lives Matter movement, and I like that I'm seeing the perspective of a friend. How would I react if my own best friend was killed in this way? I haven't finished yet, but I'm interested to see how Starr changes and to see if we get to hear what the police officer was thinking, too.

Example 2:

Stop what you're doing and go read We Were Liars by E. Lockhart. As soon as I read the last page, I wanted to go back to the beginning to read it all over again so that I could catch all of the tiny details I'd missed. If you like unraveling mysteries, this is the book for you. It's a story of family secrets, first love, true friendship, and the ways in which we had our dark past so deeply that everyone believes the lie.
