COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information & Updates
All schools within the Lafayette Parish School System will be closed through April 17, 2020.
Governor John Bel Edwards has announced the closure of all K-12 Louisiana public schools beginning on Monday, March 16 until Monday, April 13, 2020 as Louisiana seeks to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Lafayette Parish public schools will be observing Easter/Spring break through April 17, 2020 and students should return to school on Monday, April 20, 2020.
We appreciate your support and understanding of this decision. Keep in mind that this is a unique and fluid situation not only for our district, but also the entire country. We will continue to monitor developments and keep students and families apprised of our updates in a timely manner.
In an effort to ensure that our community is receiving updated and accurate information, we encourage you to rely on official LPSS information found on this new Update Center ( located on the LPSS website) and the official LPSS Facebook page. We are continuing to update FAQs, so refer back often.
Additionally, we are proactively reaching out to our students and families with important information via our J Campus notification system. We urge parents to make sure that we have your current contact information on file by visiting the Parent Portal.
In the meantime, we encourage you to continue to follow CDC guidelines as a precautionary measure to prevent any further spread of this virus. If you are able, please offer support to friends and neighbors. Small moments of kindness, grace, and support will go a long way as we navigate our collective response to this situation.
