The students are currently studying features of fantasy, exploring good versus evil and learning about the value in courage, adventure, forgiveness and honesty through reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. You can use the resources below to help your child retain the information they have learned as well as the novel that they were reading.

The template on the left can be used with any text that your child reads. Because they are studying the fantasy genre, below are some options if you would like your child to practice. The template below is a generic "Sequence of Events" from a LDOE Guidebook lesson that can be used with text.

"Fluency is defined as the ability to read with speed, accuracy, and proper expression. In order to understand what they read, children must be able to read fluently whether they are reading aloud or silently. When reading aloud, fluent readers read in phrases and add intonation appropriately."
