Eastern Woodland Indians lived in the northern part of the United States. They lived in between the Mississippi River and the Atlantic Ocean. They lived by streams, rivers, oceans, and forest. They have four seasons; warm summers, cold winters, fall and spring.
Can you imagine living in a house with no windows? The Eastern Woodlands did. Longhouses are rectangular houses and they are made out of tree bark. Many families lived in them. They also have another house called a wigwam. Wigwams are round wooden shaped huts. One family lived in them.
Have you ever gathered berries? The Eastern Woodlands womans did. They gathered strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, and they gathered nuts. They also farmed pumpkins, squash, beans, and nuts. They gathered a lot of nuts and Eastern Woodland men hunted and fished. They hunted moose, deer, bear, and beaver. They hunted while the women gathered.
Do you know what the Eastern Woodland indians wore? They wore bison hides. Eastern Woodland Indians wore jewelry from silver. Men wore shirts, leggings and moccasins. Women wore shirts under animal hide leggings.
