Meet Mrs. Collier
Welcome Trailblazers! I am Carla Collier and I am honored and excited to be one of your Literacy Specialists at Gudy Gaskill Elementary!
I was born and raised in Pearl City, Hawaii. Everywhere I went as child, I had a book in hand and the joy of reading in my heart. Stories took me to places that seemed so far away and on adventures I could only dream of. My mission is to equip every child with the kind of joy and all the skills that go with being a proficient and passionate reader.
I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a B.Ed. degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Human Development. I have been living and teaching in Colorado since 1993 where I also earned a M.S. degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment from Walden University. It has been a privilege and joy to teach in LPS at Franklin, Highland and Gaskill Elementary for the past 20 years as a K-1 teacher and Literacy Specialist.
In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my family and friends; relaxing in my backyard with a good book and my mini-Schnoodle, Koa; and taking long walks in the beautiful Colorado sunshine.
I am looking forward to joining you on the Gaskill Elementary Learning Trail in the fall!
