Special Education Team

Mrs. Campbell

I am a native to Colorado being raised in Lakewood. I moved to Littleton 16 years ago. I am rooted in the Littleton Community with four children attending LPS schools including my youngest who is a Ford Fox.  I have had a love for teaching for a long time and worked in a traditional classroom as a Special Education Teacher for 10 years in both center-based and moderate needs programs although I have been working in similar roles within education for over 16 years.

I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with my degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and received Elementary Licensure. During my undergraduate studies I began working summers at Camp Paha in Lakewood which has a focus on serving individuals with disabilities as part of the Recreation and Inclusion Services for Everyone (RISE) program. Here I decided that I had a calling for serving those with disabilities and decided to return to school at Metro State College of Denver where I obtained my Special Education Generalist Endorsement. I returned to my home high school to work as a para for a year working with an individual 1:1 who had Autism. For my final portion of classes, I also worked in the center-based: Communication and Cognitive Lab (CAC) in Jefferson County while obtaining alternative licensure. My journey then moved to a charter school in 27J called Landmark Academy where I worked for 5 years. Here I served students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade with moderate and severe needs and was the department lead.

To shorten my commute and dive into a different type of teaching role  I jumped into Highpointe Centers as the Engagement Track Director. This adult day program was specifically designed for individuals who are complex communicators. While working here I supported all staff training, organization within the program, curriculum development, and communication with all direct service providers working outside of the center.

When my husband and I decided to grow our family by becoming foster parents I began working in a part-time Douglas County Schools at Mammoth Heights Elementary as a moderate needs teacher. As our family grew from just the two of us to soon six, I took on a full-time career in parenting while teaching online. I focused on teaching English to children in China for 3 years and more recently have been teaching Orton Gillingham, Prodigy Math, and homebound education support. In addition to my traditional classroom experiences have worked in therapeutic recreation with the City of Lakewood RISE program (16 years), and Medicaid support through Developmental Pathways.

Outside of school, I love hiking, camping, gardening, and reading. I spend most of my time with my husband and four wonderful boys. We love to explore our community and go to museums, parks, and a variety of community locations as we expand our perspectives.

I love being a Ford Fox!
