Welcome to ELA with Shirley Davis!

It's an experience that you'll always remember. I value your reading skills, writing skills, and presentation skills (creativity). My class will challenge you through a variety of explorations in all genres and modes of writing. Let's get started!

My life is teaching, and you will see immediately that my passion for teaching and my passion for your growth in learning is paramount, yet there are other essential parts of my life that make my heart full and blessed. I have two children, Jennifer and Brad. Jennifer is a kindergarten teacher for the Valdosta School System. She is a life-long Viking but loves teaching sweet babies for the Cats. Brad is married and has four children, which makes me a very young grandmother. He lives in Jacksonville, Florida. Jacksonville is my second home since I taught there for many years before returning to my hometown in 1995. I have been at HMS that long; I love my hometown and our school. I am a product of the Lowndes County School System and attended Parker Mathis Elementary School, Lowndes Middle School, and Lowndes High School. Go Vikings!

I have earned many degrees in order to be the best educator I can be for you. I received by Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, I earned by Master's Degree in Middle Grades from Valdosta State University. In addition, my Educational Specialist Degree was earned from VSU. My education affords me the opportunity to teach kindergarten - college. My Gifted Endorsement provides me other opportunities to enhance the learning of my students.

This site is important for my students as it will provide important dates and events throughout the year. Our class activities and project work will also be posted on our site so that others can share in our learning and growth.
