Important info

About: LBR Community Educators work for 200 hours over the spring and summer to create and oversee educational curriculum that supports local students as they conduct original hands on science research. Educators are paid twice a month at a rate of $20 per hour. Educators must be at least 18 years old on March 1, 2019 and be able to travel to Lower Brule High School daily for sessions between 8:30am and 12pm, Monday-Friday.

Training: Educators will receive training in culturally responsive, trauma informed, and project based educational approaches. Educators will also engage with parents and other community members to further develop their educational curriculum, via two community meetings and a final community event. Please review the calendar and syllabus below for all required training days.

Timeline: Lower Brule residents may apply for a position starting January 15th. All applications must be submitted by March 1st. Applications will be scored by three members of the Lower Brule Research Board of Directors, based on the application scoring rubric. The highest scoring 2 applicants will be notified of their selection on April 1st. All applicants will be notified of final position decisions by May 1st.
