About Me

Hi! I am Jennifer May, the counselor at Lorena Elementary. I am so excited to be working with the students and staff this year. In my 30 years in education I have served in a variety of roles: PK/PPCD teacher, 2nd grade teacher, K-3 Resource teacher, Inclusion teacher, Intermediate Counselor, Intermediate Assistant Principal, and most recently Coordinator of Assessment and Instructional Supports.

I met my husband Steve at Baylor and we have 3 amazing sons. Ben is a teacher and coach at China Spring, Jaret is currently working on his masters at Tarleton while teaching PE at Lingleville, and Zach is a senior at China Spring. We are a basketball family and I love watching my boys play and coach basketball.

I will be using the Character Strong social and emotional learning curriculum this year for our guidance lessons. I will share information about the character trait we are learning about here on my page,, during morning announcements, and in the monthly newsletter.

I look forward to supporting students, staff, and parents during the 2023-2024 school year!

College spotlight

In an effort to help our students be college and career ready, we will highlight a different higher learning option each month through morning video announcements, college shirt day, and other activities.

May: MCC
