A Legacy of Voices, Futures, and Belonging 

This will be the final Blog of this half term and as I prepare to leave Lordswood Boys’ School after 21 years, I do so with immense gratitude, pride, and reflection. This school has never simply been a place of work to me; it has been a community built on belief, resilience, opportunity, and belonging. The greatest privilege of this journey has been serving our students, watching young people grow in confidence, find their voice, and discover the limitless potential within themselves. While my family and I now begin an exciting new chapter abroad, Lordswood Boys’ School will always remain part of who I am. 

Supporting Wellbeing, Safeguarding and Student Growth

Recent Assemblies Supporting Personal Development and Safeguarding: Over recent weeks, students have taken part in a series of engaging and thought-provoking assemblies focused on personal development, wellbeing and safeguarding. These sessions have provided valuable opportunities for reflection, discussion and learning beyond the classroom.

Supporting Personal Development and Safeguarding: Over recent weeks, students have taken part in a range of assemblies focused on wellbeing, safeguarding and personal development.

School Wars – Social Media and Its Impact: Students explored the pressures and risks linked to social media, including online conflict, harmful trends and negative interactions. The assembly highlighted the importance of responsible online behaviour, kindness and seeking support when needed.

Birmingham City Mission – Self-Discipline and Wellbeing: Birmingham City Mission delivered an engaging assembly on self-discipline, resilience and self-care. Through the Marshmallow Challenge, students reflected on perseverance, positive decision-making and the importance of healthy routines and wellbeing.

“It’s Not Banter, It’s Bullying” This week’s assembly encouraged students to reflect on the difference between humour and harmful behaviour. Students explored the impact of repeated comments and “jokes,” while reinforcing the importance of empathy, respect and speaking up when concerns arise. These assemblies continue to support our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and respectful school community.

Year 10 Examinations Update

Year 10 Mock Examinations – Monday 15th June 2026 to Thursday 25th June 2026

Mock examinations are an important milestone in the GCSE journey. While they are not the final exams, they provide students with valuable experience of formal examination conditions and help teachers identify strengths as well as areas where additional support may be needed before Year 11.

For students, these mocks are an opportunity to:

• Practise revision techniques and exam routines

• Build confidence in managing time under exam conditions

• Experience the expectations of GCSE-style assessments

• Reflect on what is going well and what may need further attention

We understand that exams can feel challenging and sometimes stressful. However, it is important to remember that these assessments are part of the learning process. Progress is rarely about perfection; it is about preparation, resilience, and developing positive habits over time.

Over the coming weeks, I encourage all Year 10 students to:

• Maintain healthy routines, including sleep, exercise and regular breaks

• Create a realistic revision timetable

• Revise little and often rather than cramming

• Use revision guides, class notes and online resources effectively

• Ask teachers for help if they are unsure about any topics

• Most importantly, students should approach the mock exams with a positive mindset and simply aim to do their best.

Parental support plays a significant role during exam periods. Young people often perform best when they feel supported rather than pressured and your encouragement and positivity are invaluable.  Small actions can make a big difference, including:

• Providing a quiet space for revision where possible

• Encouraging regular study routines

• Helping students maintain balance and wellbeing

• Offering reassurance and encouragement

Excellent attendance during the mock examination period is essential. Students should arrive at school on time each day with the correct equipment, including black pen, pencil, ruler, rubber.

I would like to thank our students and parents in advance for their continued hard work and support. We are proud of the maturity and determination Year 10 students are increasingly showing throughout this year, and we look forward to seeing them rise to this next challenge with confidence.

Celebrating Our Year 11 Students

As our Year 11 students leave Lordswood Boys' School and move towards the next stage of their journey, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them and recognise what an amazing cohort they have been.

This year group has brought so much personality, humour, and energy to our school community. They have consistently shown themselves to be bright, ambitious, and respectful young men who have grown enormously during their time at Lordswood Boys’ School.

Throughout their time with us, they have demonstrated resilience, maturity, and character, supporting one another through challenges and celebrating successes together. Whether in lessons, around school, through sport, trips, enrichment activities, or simply in the relationships they have built with staff and peers, they have made a lasting impact on our school community.

We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved so far, and we know they all have exciting futures ahead of them.

All staff and students at Lordswood Boys’ School would like to wish our Year 11 students the very best of luck in their continued exams after half term and in whatever path they choose next.

Well done, Year 11, you will be missed.

Year 11 Final Examinations & Revision Resources

The summer examination period runs from Wednesday 29th April to Wednesday 24th June. The full timetable has been released below. Punctuality and full preparation are essential for every exam. This is a key moment to step up your preparation, attend intervention, complete revision and leave no stone unturned. There are many rewards along the way, but the most important outcome is your final exam performance. We wish you every success in the weeks ahead. Each week we will publish the overview of all examinations, revision and intervention available for the week ahead. These sessions are very important and we encourage students to attend. Please speak to your son about taking full advantage of all the sessions available to them. Attendance and punctuality for ALL examinations is essential.
