Winter 2018

LBS Year 11 Basketball Team

Mr Arshad Match Report

The year 11 team played their league basketball fixture against Yardley School and won 39-16.

Our aim is to win the City cup this season, after getting to the final last year. The boys seemed determined to work on their areas of improvements and converted over 70% of their shots. Some good shooting!!

It has been a slow process, from year 7 to 11. However, with regular training and the element of enjoyment, these young men have created some fond memories that will stay with them forever!

LBS Year 9 Rugby Team

Some more good news to finish the week!

The year 9 Rugby team had a game against Perryfields Thursday night and played magnificently.

Perryfields only had 9 players, we had 15. So the RFU coaches asked if our boys wouldn't mind all playing 10 minutes for Perryfields. Our boys all agreed and some relished the opportunity! More on that in a moment.

We won the game 21-20, our closest game yet for any year group, the performance level in terms of skill, physicality and sportsmanship were a privilege to watch.

We scored 3 tries to Perryfields' 4, however Sukhraj Kang (one of the superstars of the performance) converted all 3 of our tries giving us the win, the last of which was the last play of the game!

Our boys did the School proud, with particularly pleasing performances from Kieron Hutton, Liam Thompson, Sukhraj Kang, Ammaar Hussain and David Feriancova.

David ran half of the length of the pitch, rounding 3 of our boys to score a try in the corner for Perryfields. This goes to show the commitment our boys have when playing sport.

A brilliant night and a fantastic game.
