Welcome back to school and to the fourth grade! We have an exciting year ahead of us! Fourth grade is a time of change. The year comes with many new challenges for students as well as parents. Fourth grade begins the transition from “Learning to Read” to “Reading to Learn.” It is a small but significant shift. Literacy is a big focus in fourth grade, and we are looking forward to helping students become strong, lifelong readers! In addition to our rigorous curriculum, we have integrated the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

Fourth grade will be a challenging year requiring much more independence and responsibility from your child. This will be a stimulating year filled with many successes and rewarding learning experiences! I look forward to collaborating with you to ensure that your child reaches his/her full potential and continues to stay challenged throughout this school year.

I want you to be informed as to what my expectations are, as well as what is going on in our classroom. I will update this website as often as I can. Our class will be one with a nurturing and safe learning environment. Each child will wonder, question, criticize, and critique ideas. Together we will learn the importance of being a responsible, respectful, well-prepared citizen.

I am very excited for our 4th grade year and plan to make it unforgettable for your kiddos!
