“To teach in a manner that respects and cares for the souls of our students is essential if we are to provide the necessary conditions where learning can most deeply and intimately begin.”

“Teaching to Transgress: Education As The Practice of Freedom”
Our Mission: Longmeadow Public Schools is committed to inclusive educational practices that embraces and affirms all student identities and cultures. In the LPS strategic school improvement plans, educators continuously examine, revise, and refine curricular materials to increase diverse representation and to uplift the voices of historically marginalized, non-dominant groups. LPS educators undergo professional development that is culturally responsive and attentive to individual student needs. LPS is committed to leveraging social and emotional learning to promote a respectful, caring, safe, inclusive, and empathetic school environment. Critical conversations about social justice issues occur in a developmentally appropriate, standards-based, methodical, and collaborative manner at all schools. LPS leaders and educators are committed to removing obstacles and barriers to student success. As an organization, LPS strives to actively and aggressively close achievement and opportunity gaps for all learners.
Collaborative Equity Audit
This equity audit of the Longmeadow Public School District was a collaborative effort led and facilitated by the Center for Leadership and Educational Equity. LPS stakeholders gathered to analyze feedback from students, parents, and staff and considered student data relating to equity. Through this work the Audit Committee crafted a final report which identifies the District's strengths, high priority areas for improvement, and recommendations to address identified inequities, Please click here to review a final copy of the Collaborative Equity Audit Report.
