Course Level Changes

Booklet Page 17

On a case by case basis, it is sometimes in a student’s educational best interest to make a level change during the school year. Depending on when the change occurs, the student’s grade will be adjusted in the following manner:

If a student is moving up from a regular college preparatory course to an honors or Advanced Placement course, transferred quarter grades will be reduced by 10 points to compensate for the additional weighting in the Honors/AP course.

Example:

English III 132

AP English Language and Composition 130

Quarter 1

Grade A (90)

Grade B (80)

If a student is moving down from an honors or Advanced Placement course to a regular college preparatory course, transferred quarter grades will be increased by 10 points to compensate for the reduced weighting in the regular college preparatory course.

Example:

Prealculus H 340

Precalculus 342

Quarter 1

Grade C+ (78)

Grade B+ (88)
