This is a research analysis of the fresh produce (F & V) supply chain in the agriculture sector. It consists of three major sectors Market price analysis of goods and services, B2B payment mode and demand analysis, and B2C purchasing time and quantity analysis of goods gender-wise.
Market (Mandi) Price Analysis: This is the most vital part of the analysis of complete research analysis. It has three stages of analysis.
First stage: When the market opens, the price of goods stands at a particular price called the opening price and it is mostly equal to the closing price of the previous day and remains constant for around 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, the price decreases as the availability of goods increases and continues till 1 and half hours.
Second stage: Farmers start to come into mandi in 2 hours and the result is prices slowing down more due to excess amount of goods that shows supply is more than demand, and it would continue 1 and half hours.
Third stage: Most products sold now and it will affect the supply-demand relation, therefore, price starts increasing and when most of the farmer sell their product and leave the market then the shopkeeper of the market increased the price as per the demand, and now the game of the price played by shopkeeper or wholesaler of the market only.
This analysis concludes that the closing price could be somewhere of the opening price if the relation of demand & supply is linear at the end of the day but, if supply does not meet the demand, then the price goes up and vice-versa.
B2B Payment mode and demand analysis of goods:
Fixed: One-time delivery to every next morning.
Fixed+Extra: One-time delivery in the morning and extra delivery of goods 24x7 as per demand.
As per the analysis, there are three major payment methods accepted by Restaurants/ Hotels/Marriage-hall.
Pay on Delivery: It is a widely accepted payment method by B2B bodies because it is reliable, easy, and affordable for them.
Prepaid: Restaurants/ Hotels that can not pay daily choose the “Prepaid” scheme because they will get exclusive offers to pay in advance.
Credit: This is for those who are not able to pay in advance and cannot pay daily, therefore they have two options weekly and monthly in credit option. Weekly is more affordable than the monthly plan.
Purchasing time and quantity analysis of goods: The analysis mainly focused on three segments: Purchasing time of goods, Gender of the buyer, and Quantity analysis of goods.
Purchasing time: The analysis report shows that purchasing time in the evening is higher than in the morning. The reason behind purchasing time is that most households prepare themselves for their work or business and have to visit their workplace in the morning time so they are not able to purchase fruits & vegetables in the morning, however, they are done purchasing when they return from their workplace.
Gender of buyer: Females are purchasing fruits and vegetables more than males.
Quantity analysis of goods: The analysis report has one part of analysis regarding consumption of fruits & vegetables by families, the report says that the average amount of fruits and vegetables consumed by each family is around 1.2 kg per day.
Summary
This project is a complete research analysis for the fresh produce supply chain in the agriculture sector. Each segment of analysis has contributed an important role in the research, for example:
Market price analysis would be helpful to understand the price variation pattern in markets and it would also help to manage the price of goods based on market demands.
Payment method analysis is crucial for establishing a good relationship with B2B bodies in their own comfort. This analysis will help to understand and prepare the organization for a reliable deal in terms of payment. To know the demand for goods is very important for the organization, demand analysis would be a great analysis for this.
When it comes to supply chain management, the purchasing time and quantity analysis of goods will be helpful to speed up the supply chain management, and also to know the gender of households who purchase the goods would be helpful for marketing and advertising strategies.
Acknowledgment
The work with this research requires a lot of guidance and assistance and I'm extremely privileged to have got this all along with the work on my research. For collecting data I have to visit the field and talk to the B2B bodies and families who live in Apartments and for market (Mandi ) price analysis I visited 20 mandis (market place) in the period of two weeks both day and night time. This research is done in three months. I owe my deep gratitude to my project guide Mr. Anil Kumar took a keen interest in my research work and guided me all along.
