Chromebooks

A Guide for Students, Parents and Educators

The goal of Lucia Mar Unified School District as a 21st Century School District is to provide educational excellence for all students, staff and parents. To achieve this goals all of our students will have access to a Chromebook device to be used as a tool to achieve academic success. As of the 2020-2021 School Year, we are starting our 1:1 Chromebook Initiative at the secondary level and a 1:3 ratio at the elementary level. With these goals achieved we will be able to enhance and enrich teaching and learning, ensure equitable access to instructional technology, and improve student outcomes in creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, communication, and collaboration.

Due to continued distance learning for the beginning of the 2020-2021 School Year, Chromebooks will stay with students until the return of in-person instruction.

What is a Chromebook and why are students using them?

The Chromebook is a personal computer designed to work through the Google Chrome browsers on web-based applications. The District chose this device as the best fit for the needs of the students in term of processing speed, ease of operation, productivity, and cost effectiveness.
