LMSD Senior Project

General Overview

The project will be an experiential exploration of a topic of interest to the individual student.

Each senior will be assigned to a faculty advisor with whom they must meet on a scheduled basis from January through June. The faculty advisor's role is to guide the student through the following assignments. See the project handbook for specific details on assignments. Click on the Assignments link in the left-hand menu for instructions on how to submit.

 Important Information

Seniors will complete all assignments and attend all meetings according to the project timeline. Senior classes end on Friday, May 3, 2024.

From Monday, May 6 through Friday, May 24, 2024 (approximately 3 weeks), seniors will dedicate 70 hours to the placement and complete mandatory meetings, in person or virtually, with their faculty advisers. Presentations, demonstrations, or performances will be scheduled from Tuesday, May 28 through Friday, May 31, 2024 (Monday, June 3, 2024 is for makeups). On their assigned day, the senior will present, demonstrate, or perform for a faculty panel. The presentation, demonstration, or performance will be no longer than ten (10) minutes in length with up to an additional ten (10) minutes devoted to follow up questions from the faculty panel.

Seniors will earn .5 of a credit for the senior project. The project is graded on a Pass/Fail basis. The senior will earn a grade (“P” or “F”) for each assignment. The student must earn a “P” for each assignment in order to earn a final “P” for the project. The Lower Merion School District mandates that students must complete this project satisfactorily to graduate.
