Attendance will be taken daily and LISD Grading Guidelines will be followed.

What is the District's plan if someone in my child's class test positive for COVID 19?

The District follows guidance from the CDC, as well as local, state and health officials. Currently, the recommendation is that anyone who comes in contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19 self-quarantine for 14-days. As we approach August, we will continue to monitor guidance and will develop a concrete written plan to share with families and staff regarding how LISD will address positive cases of students and/or staff.

How will the District practice social distancing during the school day?

District and campus leaders are reviewing all possibilities of how we can practice social distancing when school resumes in August. LISD will consider CDC recommends for seating, and restricting large gathering of students in places such as the cafeteria or the playground. Additionally, it is recommended that field trips not be scheduled and campuses restrict visitors during the school day. All of these recommendations would encourage social distancing, but have several other factors that must be considered.

Since we did not have the STAAR test of end-of-year assessments, how will the district know where students are in their learning and how will they monitor student progress to close learning gaps that may have occurred during Emergency Remote Learning in the spring?

LISD will gather data on all students at the beginning of the school year to determine where students are in their learning and identify gaps that may have occurred during emergency remote learning. Progress monitoring tools will be used throughout the 20-21 school year to address any learning gaps that students may have and to monitor progress in closing them.
