Who is Mrs. Pinhasovich and What is a College Counselor?

Hi Lancers! My name is Mrs. Pinhasovich. I am a proud graduate of the University of Connecticut and Manhattan University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Journalism and my Master of Arts in School Counseling, respectively. I worked in college admissions at the University of Connecticut as well as Lasell University, and it was there where I found my love of college admissions and working with high school students to find the right path for themselves after high school. I am originally from Long Island, NY, and am an avid Mets, Islanders, UConn Huskies, and tennis fan, and am always looking to give and get a great TV show recommendation!

I am an additional support in this process for your family, alongside your child's School Counselor. My role as the LHS College Counselor is to enhance the support for students and families in the areas of post-secondary planning, career exploration and to collaborate with the School Counselors in promoting the social, emotional and academic growth for all students. Counselors help build a foundation for lifelong learning in a culturally sensitive environment by fostering self-respect, awareness of others, self-efficacy and access to individual interventions and community resources. Our is vision for students to understand career pathways as well as how to navigate a global society, make informed decisions and effect successful transitions. By working in partnership with educators, parents and the community, School Counselors assist all students in achieving the skills and knowledge necessary to be productive, contributing members of society.

What can I do to help?

Specifically, my role role is to:

• Provide additional support for seniors in completing their post-secondary applications in both small group and individual capacities. 

• Offering additional workshops for students in the areas of post-secondary searching, college essay writing, interviewing, resume writing and more!

• Constantly communicate information, resources and important information about college and post-secondary planning. 

• Conduct small group and individual meetings with juniors to navigate the post-secondary searching process and prepare for senior year.

• Plan and implement our LHS post-secondary admissions testing opportunities: PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, ACT and ASVAB.
