Breaking Down Classroom Walls with Outdoor Filmmaking

In partnership with the Utah Film Center, student created outdoor filmmaking will be explored. Everything a teacher needs to know is condensed in a quick and easy grab and go bag with accompanying field guide booklet. Teachers will be shown how to create a grab and go bag from materials already found in their classrooms. An additional supply list will also be provided, in case teachers want to start from scratch or upgrade what they have. Traditionally, technology is kept in the classroom and the world is brought to the students. Now, with the use of mobile technology, the classroom walls can disappear and school can be in any location the teacher chooses. This session prepares teachers to be bold and get outside taking technology with them. By using filmmaking procedures to plan, shoot, edit, and exhibit, teachers and students can be better engaged and create memorable moments that last forever.
